1. About Us

LV Carpentry & Tradesmen ("we", "us", "our") is a bespoke carpentry and interior fit out company based at Hardy House, Northbridge Road, Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire HP4 1EH. These terms and conditions govern your use of our website and the services we provide.

2. Quotes and Estimates

All quotes provided by us are based on information gathered during a design consultation and/or the details you supply. Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.

A quote becomes a binding agreement only when you accept it in writing and pay the required deposit. We reserve the right to revise a quote if the scope of work changes materially from what was originally agreed.

3. Deposits and Payment

A deposit is required to secure your project start date. The deposit amount will be stated in your quote. The remaining balance is due in stages as agreed in your project schedule, with final payment due on completion of the work.

Late payments may incur interest at a rate of 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

Ownership of all materials and fitted items remains with LV Carpentry & Tradesmen until payment is made in full.

4. Project Timelines

We will provide an estimated start date and duration at the time of booking. While we make every effort to adhere to agreed timelines, delays may occur due to factors outside our control including material supply issues, site access problems or unforeseen structural conditions. We will notify you promptly of any delay and agree a revised schedule.

5. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide clear and safe access to the property on agreed working days
  • Ensure the site is cleared and ready for work as agreed prior to our arrival
  • Inform us of any known structural, electrical or plumbing issues that may affect the work
  • Obtain any necessary permissions, including planning consent or landlord approval, before work commences

6. Variations and Additional Work

Any changes to the agreed scope of work must be agreed in writing before the additional work is carried out. We will provide a revised quote or variation order for approval. Verbal instructions to proceed with additional work will not be binding on us.

7. Our Guarantee

We guarantee all workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of project completion. This covers defects arising from our work. It does not cover damage caused by misuse, third party interference or normal wear and tear.

Materials and products are covered by the manufacturer's own warranty where applicable.

8. Liability

Our liability to you in connection with any project shall not exceed the total amount paid by you for that project. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses including loss of profit, loss of use or loss of anticipated savings.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Cancellation

If you cancel a confirmed project:

  • More than 28 days before the start date:your deposit will be refunded in full
  • Between 14 and 28 days before the start date:50% of the deposit will be retained
  • Less than 14 days before the start date:the full deposit will be retained

If we cancel a project for reasons within our control, we will refund your deposit in full and make every effort to rearrange at a mutually convenient time.

10. Intellectual Property

All designs, drawings and specifications produced by us remain our intellectual property unless otherwise agreed in writing. You may not reproduce or share these documents without our prior consent.

We may photograph completed projects for our portfolio and marketing purposes. If you do not wish us to do this, please notify us in writing before the project begins.
